The Bitter Tea of General Yen, the 1932 Frank Capra Asian Chinese Revolution missionary interracial romance romantic melodrama ("She came to save souls - and nearly lost her own!"; an extremely daring movie for its day; Stanwyck is a missionary sent to China, to meet her fiance, also a missionary, but they are separated and she is injured, and she is taken to a Chinese general, and when his mistress is accused of betraying him, Stanwyck pleads with him to spare the mistress' life, and he does, but she then DOES betray him, and he is ruined, and Stanwyck realizes her tragic mistake and offers herself to him!) starring Barbara Stanwyck, Nils Asther (in the title role as General Yen), Toshia Mori, Walter Connolly, and Gavin Gordon

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned ANY French lobby cards from this movie! Note that we think it is extremely likely this is from the first French release of this movie, but there is a very slight chance it is from a re-release (we don't think this, because the re-release would have been after World War II, and we don't believe there were French lobby cards like this made after World War II). Also note that very early French lobby cards were like later Swiss lobby cards, where they would have a heavy stock cardboard background with information about the movie and a blank rectangular area in the center where they would glue a different still to each stock background, thus creating a set of lobby cards for less money than having all different cards would cost. ANY French lobby cards from before World War II are incredibly rare! Also note that this French lobby card measures 14 3/4" x 19 3/4" [37 x 50 cm].
