Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 7 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked War Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) War Exposition, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front poster ("Presented by the United States and Allied Governments"; "'How the mighty have fallen'") promoting a traveling exhibition, and featuring artwork of a U.S. soldier holding a German helmet. Note that based on newspaper articles, this exhibition featured "German trophies", "war implements" from the Allied Powers and Central Powers, speeches, live music, military veterans and war workers, parades, war photos and films and more. The exhibitions continued into 1919. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). very good to fine. The poster has darkened somewhat. There are tiny areas of paper loss and a few small tears in the blank borders and some minor creases within the image, but overall the poster is in exceptional condition especially considering that it is over 85 years old! It was well linenbacked and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
