Stahl passing-for-white romantic tearjerker melodrama (nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the novel by Fannie Hurst) starring Claudette Colbert, Warren William, Louise Beavers (one of the first black African Americans to achieve success in mainstream Hollywood movies), Rochelle Hudson, Ned Sparks, Henry Armetta, Baby Jane, Alan Hale Sr., Fredi Washington (a very light-skinned, very talented black African American actress who refused to try to "pass for white", and who appeared in several important black related movies including "The Emperor Jones" and "Black and Tan"; ironically, she had to have her skin darkened, so she could "pass for black"!), Marilyn Knowlden, and Juanita Quigley. Note that this movie was re-made in 1959 by Ross Hunter and Douglas Sirk with Lana Turner in the lead role! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this first release scene card, and that was in a complete set! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. There is light scuffing in the solid black areas of the image. There is a thin line of staining across the bottom of the image and down the lower right edge of the image. There is surface paper loss and tears in the lower left of the image, with a tear extending down into Colbert's credit, and someone touched up the surface paper loss with purple marker.
