The Great Flirtation, the 1934 Ralph Murphy romantic love triangle theater stage acting melodrama ("Her love scenes were her profession... but they were too perfect to convince her husband that she was only acting!"; based on the story by Gregory Ratoff; a wacky story of a Hungarian acting couple who come to Broadway, and they only achieve success when the wife pretends to be of Russian royalty and unmarried, and they go through many ups and downs, and finally the husband steps aside so that she can marry the playwright who had written her two hits) starring Elissa Landi, Adolphe Menjou, David Manners, Akim Tamiroff, and Lynne Overman

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1934 movie paper from this movie is extremely scarce. We have never auctioned even one first release poster from this movie before receiving this half-sheet. Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster was never folded. It had an 8" vertical tear in the lower right corner, with some tears and paper loss in the left corner, entering the image. It had a long tear starting near the bottom center of the poster, running through Landi's credit to the right border. It had some scuffs in Landi's cheek and some pinholes, tears, and paper loss in the other borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
