An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 7" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]) (Learn More)

Detective Comics, the most famous comic book from DC Comics, along with Action Comics (the name "DC" comes from Detective Comics). Detective Comics #1 was published in March 1937, and Action Comics was not published until June 1938, but Superman appeared in Action Comics #1, and Batman did not make his debut until Detective Comics #27, which was not published until March 1939, so while Superman predated Batman, Detective Comics predated Action Comics! Amazingly, Detective Comics is still being published, and there have been over 1,000 issues. It is of course most closely connected to Batman, who originated in Detective #27, and who debuted in his own comic, Batman #1 in March 1940. And in recent years, thanks to the many Batman movies, he has surely surpassed Superman as DC's #1 character!
Artist: Win Mortimer
Important Added Info: Note that this comic book will be sent to the winning bidder in a brand new Mylites4 protective sleeve and a full-back 100% acid-free backing board.

Note that this is one of eleven comic books consigned to us by a man who "re-discovered" his childhood comic book collection, and they have sat undisturbed (and unslabbed, unrestored, and unflattened) for all those years, until now, when we are auctioning them in the same state without anything being done to them. We have photographed ALL pages of the comic so that you can absolutely tell what condition it is in, something you of course could never do with a "slabbed" comic book!

Contents: Cover art by Win Mortimer. If I Were Batman starring Batman and Robin, script by Edmond Hamilton, pencils by Sheldon Moldoff, inks by Charles Paris. Do You Know Your Neighbors? public service announcement starring Buzzy, script by Jack Schiff, art by Win Mortimer. The Money That Came to Life! starring Roy Raymond TV Detective, script by Jack Miller, art by Ruben Moreira. Four Tricks of the Detective's Trade text article by Jack Miller. The Strange Experiment of Dr. Erdel starring John Jones Manhunter From Mars, script by Joe Samachson, art by Joe Certa. 36 pgs. $0.10. Cover price $0.10.

Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good".

Note: We have 19 images of this comic book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 19 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 9.

Condition: fair to good. The comic has many defects, as seen in our many images. It has a small completely detached piece from the top right corner that enters into the CCA seal (see our image). Please do not bid on this comic unless you can accept its many defects, as seen in our images of the entire book.
