And only murder could part them!"; "When these two clash... tension grows tighter and tighter until violence is the only answer!"; "Screenplay by Robert Rossen"; a convoluted story of a woman who killed her aunt as a teenager, and the man who witnessed it blackmailed her into marrying him, and there is an old boyfriend who returns to town and stirs up old events) starring Barbara Stanwyck (in the title role as Martha Ivers), Van Heflin, Lizabeth Scott, Kirk Douglas (billed as "Introducing Kirk Douglas"; in his first movie role, and he is not pictured on the one-sheet), Judith Anderson, Janis Wilson (as the young Martha), and Mickey Kuhn (as the young Walter) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still is from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and it was stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that it came from this legendary collection. Condition: good to very good. The names of the stars were written in red pen in the bottom border and the title of the movie was written in the top border. Note that the still is rippled in the middle right (because of a snipe that was once glued to the back) and that causes it to not lay completely flat. This causes "distortion" in our image because it does not lay completely flat in our scanner, but this distortion is solely in our digital image, and NOT in the still itself. Other than the above, the still is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
