An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Large Movie Poster (31x47; measures 31 1/4" x 47" [79 x 119 cm]) (Learn More)

Shadows From the Past, the 1915 Richard Ridgley silent romantic love triangle murder melodrama (produced by the Edison Company; an unbelievably complicated story that resembles Far From the Madding Crowd, about a woman in love with a poor soldier, and there is also a lawyer and a Lord who love her, and she becomes pregnant and the soldier gets in a fight with the lawyer, and thinks he has killed him, so he runs away, sending a letter saying he will send for his pregnant girlfriend when he is relocated, but her mother intercepts the letter and after the baby is born, she tells her daughter the baby has died, and the daughter is grief stricken over that, and also by her lover seemingly deserting her, so she married the Lord, and then years later, she both is visited by the soldier who blackmails her, and she learns of the existence of her daughter, and that is just a small part of this incredibly complicated movie!) starring Helen Strickland, Mabel Trunnelle, Bigelow Cooper, Marc McDermott, and Alpheus Lincoln. Note that we were unable to find out the length of this movie, but it seems impossible that all of the plot could be conveyed in a short time! If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned one example of this French poster, and NO other movie paper items from this Thomas Edison movie until we received this second example! This is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters!

Condition: fair. The poster is very fragile and it has some stains scattered throughout and tears, separation, and paper loss on parts of the folds. Please do not bid on this unless you can accept all of the above.
