An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 21 3/4" [36 x 55 cm]) (Learn More) Camille, the 1937 George Cukor romantic love triangle melodrama ("Greta Garbo loves Robert Taylor in Camille"; set in France and based on the play and novel 'La Dame aux Camelias' by Alexandre Dumas Fils; about the French son of a noble family who is a law student and he falls for a beautiful prostitute; she reforms for him and they live in poverty, but the young man's father feels disgraced, and he convinces the woman to give up his son, and she returns to her former life, and he, not knowing what his father did, meets her publicly and denounces her, but she does not enlighten him, and at the climax, she dies holding a gift he gave her) starring Greta Garbo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Marguerite 'Camille' Gautier), Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Jessie Ralph, Henry Daniell, Lenore Ulric, Laura Hope Crews, and Rex O'Malley. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The borders and the top blank area had darkened, and it seems related to the type of linen that was used, because that darkened in the same way, but the darkening does not affect the image. There was a fold across the middle. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a thin linen with no excess.
