An Original Vintage Folded Dutch World War II Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 43 1/2" [80 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) De Romepelgrims (literally translates to "The Rome Pilgrims"), the 1943 Dutch World War II (WWII) poster featuring Bruno Hanich art of a sinister Uncle Sam and John Bull (the national personifications of the United States and England) amidst a battlefield with dead soldiers walking in the background. The Nazis were trying to promote the idea that both the U.S. and England were recklessly killing as they advanced towards Rome and they produced posters like these in countries they occupied to reinforce that idea. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bruno Hanich Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned this poster once before and now that very same poster has been reconsigned to us for this auction, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that we were just consigned a wonderful collection of 59 war posters, most from World War II (which we are auctioning in 59 separate auctions)! Included in this collection are some posters we have never auctioned before, and some we have only auctioned once or twice before (sometimes only many years ago). This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain some or all of these historic posters, many of which have great images!). Condition: fair. There is a rectangle of paper loss in the top right corner. The poster has darkened somewhat, more so along the foldlines. Learn More about condition grades
