Jeffrey Dell's The Dark Man, the 1951 Jeffrey Dell English crime murder film noir ("Set in one of Britain's Forbidden Areas..... this is one of the most fascinating films ever screened!"; "He's tall, dark and... a killer!"; about a criminal who kills two people in a remote area, but has the misfortune that his crimes were witnessed by a pretty young amateur actress, and the rest of the movie is concerned with him trying to kill her before she can tell what she knows to the authorities) starring Edward Underdown, Maxwell Reed (in the title role as The Dark Man), Natasha Parry, William Hartnell, and Barbara Murray

Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie! It is one of a remarkable collection of SIXTEEN "country of origin" British quads we are currently auctioning, which includes some wonderful ones, and ten of them are from the 1950s and six are from the early 1960s, and all of them are posters that virtually never are offered for sale or at auction, and many of them are ones we have never auctioned before! This is an incredibly rare opportunity to acquire one or many of these ultra rare "country of origin" posters that may not come up again for many years! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had darkened on the folds and in the outer edges of the blank borders. It also had some paper loss and tears scattered down the right vertical fold, with a lesser amount on the middle vertical fold. It also had a number of small areas of paper loss scattered across the top 5" and down three more inches in the right of the poster, including in the figure of the man. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to paperbacking. Given the poster's substantial defects, the restorer did a pretty nice job, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
