Artist: David Hurn Important Added Info: Note that the vast majority of commercial posters from the 1960s were sold in very large numbers, and while they can be difficult to find decades later, they can almost never be described as rare. But this particular commercial poster actually is "rare" because it was recalled due to legal/licensing issues at that time. We have seen dealers asking thousands of dollars for this commercial poster! Note that there is something even more unusual about this poster! We had previously auctioned three similar posters, but all of those measured 43" high, while THIS poster measures 53" high! Yet they both have the same image. The difference is that this poster has approximately 5 more inches of background area above and below the image of Fonda. They also have different tiny printer information at the bottom. Why would this be? We don't know. But as far as we know, this is the only surviving example of this larger version of this commercial recalled poster! Finally, note that this poster was produced by Personality Posters, a company from the 1960s to the 1970s who created commercial posters for sale to the public. The posters featured popular celebrities, cultural icons, movie stars, artwork, political statements, and more. As the posters were mainly used for decoration (often by high school or college students), it is rare to find them in good condition in modern times. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some faint creases in the background areas. It had two 3" tears near the middle of the right border and a 5" tear in the lower left border. It had a few smaller tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was really nicely backed by a talented professional and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
