An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Rotogravure One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/4" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) A Woman Against the World, the 1928 George Archainbaud silent crime mystery romantic melodrama starring Harrison Ford (not the same Harrison Ford that we know as an actor today, but a very popular leading man of the 1920s), Georgia Hale, Gertrude Olmstad, Lee Moran, Harvey Clark, Walter Hiers, William Tooker, and Sally Rand. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: In the late 1910s through the early 1930s, MGM (and sometimes Paramount and a couple of other studios) would often make a regular one-sheet for a movie and, instead of a second style regular one-sheet, would instead make a special "rotogravure" one-sheet. Named after the rotogravure picture sections at the time popular in Sunday newspapers, these one-sheets would be printed in a single color, often sepia, but sometimes other colors, and they would usually incorporate pictorial images from the movie combined in a montage fashion. Very few rotogravure one-sheet have survived, since they were printed on the same paper stock used in newspapers of the time, and the paper is very fragile and often darkens. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tears and areas of paper loss scattered across the bottom foldline, with a lesser amount of wear on the other folds. It appears that the poster was surely displayed behind a chicken wire fence, because there is a distinctive chicken wire pattern in the blank background areas, but it is not all that noticeable or distracting. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
