Frankenweenie, the 1984 Tim Burton Walt Disney science fiction (sci-fi) canine dog horror comedy short ("From the Director of Batman and Beetlejuice!"; "A Comic Twist On A Classic Tail!") starring Shelley Duvall, Daniel Stern, Barret Oliver, Sofia Coppola, Paul Bartel, and Sparky the dog (in the title role). According to legend, Tim Burton was fired by Walt Disney after delivering this extremely dark movie to the company known for family movies! Supposedly, it was released to theaters very briefly in 1984 in a very censored version. In the early 1990s, after Burton's great success with "Beetlejuice" and "Batman", Disney released the original version of the movie on video, the very same movie for which they had fired him (Disney sometimes put making money over principle!). If anyone knows the inside story of exactly what occurred with this movie, and exactly when this video release was from, please e-mail us and we will post it here (and if there were ever any 1984 posters of any sort created, please let us know that as well!).
