An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Dangerous Journey, the 1944 Armand-Denis & Leila Roosevelt Africa/India jungle safari native tribe adventure documentary ("More startling than your strangest dreams!") narrated by Conrad Nagel. Note that Armand-Denis and Roosevelt traveled through Africa and India in the mid-1930s, and in 1937, they released short subjects of their journeys, including "Wheels Across Africa" and "Wheels Across India". In 1945, George Schaefer, who had recently resigned as President of RKO Pictures, attempted a comeback of sorts by combining the above shorts into this single feature-length movie. Apparently, it had the working titles of "Dark Rapture" and also "Dark Journey", and at the last minute, the title of "Dangerous Journey" was settled on. Please note that the IMDb lists the date of this movie as 1938, but that is definitely wrong (perhaps someone confused this movie with the earlier short subjects)! Note that Armand Denis had explored Africa and India in the 1930s with his wife Leila Roosevelt, and had produced and directed many short subjects with footage of their travels that he and his wife had shot themselves. In 1948, the 52 year-old Armand Denis divorced Roosevelt, and married 34 year-old Michaela Holdsworth, and together they made four movies (very similar to those he had made with his first wife).
