Note that this movie borrows heavily from the hugely successful "Casablanca", which was made two years before, except in this movie, Henreid plays the "Bogart" role! Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines and minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but unfortunately after it was backed, it acquired damage that caused surface paper loss scattered across the upper center of the image, including in Lamarr's forehead and Henreid's mouth and neck (see our image). Certainly, a restorer could repair this damage, either with or without re-backing the poster, but bear this expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
