eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1h0007 LONE RANGER signed 52x76 test poster 1950s by Clayton Moore, life-size art with Tonto, rare! Date Sold 12/26/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded Autographed Test Poster (measures 52" x 76" [132 x 193 cm]) (Learn More) The Lone Ranger, the 1956 Stuart Heisler masked hero cowboy western ("Hi-Yo Silver!"; "Thunders to the motion picture screen!"; "America's Beloved Masked Rider and his Faithful Indian Companion, Tonto in a Blazing New Story!"; "The Lone Ranger (and Tonto too!!!)"; "It's all new! His first feature-length picture -- in WarnerColor"; "First time on the big, wide motion picture screen!"; "Surging across America's vast badland in the most challenging undercover mission of his career!"; adapted from the classic TV show that starred the same actors) starring Clayton Moore (in the title role as The Lone Ranger; "The Lone Ranger Himself"), Jay Silverheels (as the Native American Indian Tonto; "Tonto Himself"), Lyle Bettger, Bonita Granville, Perry Lopez, Beverly Washburn, and Silver (the horse) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by Clayton Moore! Note that these were normally sold as separate posters, each with life-size images of these two great heroes. The posters were advertised on boxes of Wheaties cereal, and you could either get one poster for 35 cents and two Wheaties box tops (or 50 cents plus three Wheaties box tops for both posters) to receive these by mail! The only writing on them is a tiny "A11640 c TLR Printed in U.S.A." on the Lone Ranger, and "A11641 c TLR Printed in U.S.A." on the Tonto. While we are sure many kids ordered these, we would think the vast majority of them were taped or tacked to walls and ended up being destroyed! HOWEVER, WHAT WE ARE AUCTIONING IS NOT THAT SET OF TWO POSTERS THAT WE HAVE AUCTIONED A FEW TIMES IN THE PAST! Instead, in this auction, we are offering a single uncut sheet with both posters printed on it. It is surely a test poster created before they were printed separately. Our consignor is a very longtime Lone Ranger collector who purchased this signed many years ago. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but he has a number of other Clayton Moore autographs that are surely authentic, and this signature is a match to those, and he (and we) feel certain that this autograph is genuine. We have never auctioned one of these test posters with both stars before! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has tape on the back of the top and bottom borders that was folded over to the front. It has paper loss in the bottom of the left blank border, and a tear that goes into The Lone Ranger's foot in that same area that was repaired with tape from the back. There is tape on the back of a 5" tear that goes into the white background near his other foot. There is tape on the back of a tear in the bottom of the right border. We think those tears occurred while it was rolled, and this portion was on the outside of the roll, because the rest of the poster is in pretty nice condition. It can be displayed as it is, or certainly, it could be linenbacked, and the above minor defects will be dealt with during that process. Learn More about condition grades
