An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had many tears, small stains, creases, and smudges around the edges, with some tiny paper loss in a few places and surface paper loss near the middle of the bottom blank border, where a piece of paper tape was roughly removed (but only blank white paper was affected). Two of the tears go into the image. One is 4" long in the middle of the right border, and the other is 2" long in the left of the bottom border. There are two water stains in the background of the credits box at bottom right. Someone once rolled the poster too tightly and they created three somewhat noticeable vertical creases, plus several other barely noticeable vertical creases. Someone long ago put paper tape on the back of the tears in the borders. Certainly, I could imagine many collectors displaying this poster as it is, but it is also true that many of the defects are the sort that respond well to restoration, so whether it is restored or not, I think the new owner will be happy to have this poster in their collection, but please look closely at our super-sized image to see exactly what its defects are.
