Leeds New York City theater stage acting detective crime mystery thriller starring Lloyd Nolan (as Michael Shayne), Marjorie Weaver, Phil Silvers, Janis Carter, Richard Derr, and William Haade. Note that "Michael Shayne: Private Detective" was the first in a series of twelve detective movies based on the character created by Brett Halliday. Lloyd Nolan played the character in the first seven movies between 1940 and 1942. There was then a 4 year gap and the series resumed in 1946, with Hugh Beaumont (best remembered as the father in TV's "Leave it to Beaver") taking over the role and he starred in five movies in 1946 and 1947. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. Each of the cards have faint smudges around the edges. The card pictured at lower right has a few tiny pinholes around the edges. The cards are otherwise in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind! Learn More about condition grades
