An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Four-Panel Movie Poster (4p; measures 76 1/2" x 87" [194 x 221 cm]; printed in 4 pieces) (Learn More)

Le Roman D'un Caissier (literally translates to "A Cashier's Novel"), the 1914 Emile Chautard French silent romantic crime melodrama (about a cashier at a major French bank whose daughter is having an affair with the son of one of the owners; when the son embezzles money, it is discovered, but that also reveals his affair, and the cashier resigns and moves to the country with his daughter) starring Devalence (in the title role as Le Caissier Francois), Nita Romani, Bahier, Georges Raulin, and Andre Liabel. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this French poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Not only that, but we have never before auctioned ANYTHING from this movie!

Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Also note that this French four-panel was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: fair to good. The poster has darkening and staining on the back of parts of many folds, with some small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of the folds and borders. The poster is pretty fragile, but it is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will display well, and will likely need little paint restoration within the image.
