If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the winner of this auction will not only receive this great one-sheet, but they will also receive an index card that was personally autographed (signed) by John Wayne himself (which could be framed together with the poster, or could be framed separately with a nice image of John Wayne). Our consignor purchased the signed index card from one of our auctions in 2013, and it was consigned to us from the Sterling H. Bond autograph collection, and we are certain it is authentic, but we have no "Certificate of Authenticity". Also note that this one-sheet is a very rare poster! We have only auctioned it twice (and only once in the past 24 years!). Perhaps this is because the surviving examples of it were purchased by military veterans who had been in this squadron during World War II. It has wonderful art, far superior to most Republic posters of this time. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and small areas of paper loss in the left half of the middle horizontal fold, with some tiny bits of paper loss on small parts of the other folds. It had some tiny paper loss in the middle of the left border and pinholes in the corners. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. The autographed index card that comes with the poster is in very nice condition (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
