An Original Vintage Theatrical French Trade Ad (measures 9 1/2" x 10 3/4" [24 x 27 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Die Buchse der Pandora (Lulu); (released in the U.S. as "Pandora's Box"), the classic 1929 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) German silent tragic romantic melodrama (a story about an innocent yet hedonistic dancer and prostitute who dooms every man who encounters her; the movie that launched Louise Brooks into international stardom) starring Louise Brooks, Fritz Kortner, Francis Lederer, Carl Goetz, and Krafft-Raschig. Note that silent star Louise Brooks turned her back on Hollywood in 1929, and went to Europe and made some memorable films, most notably this film. In the early 1930s she attempted to return to Hollywood (minus her trademark flapper hairdo), but met with little success. She resurfaced in the 1960s and wrote books and articles about her life, and acquired a huge cult following. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there was a French film yearbook issued in 1929/30, which contained ads for many films that were offered to exhibitors during that year. This trade ad consists of two pages (printed on both sides), which were removed from an example of that yearbook, and then the two pages were taped together with white tape. We have photographed the front page, the back page, and the interior two pages (the front and back page are taped together). Condition: very good to fine. Other than the two pages being taped together with a single piece of white tape, both pages are in excellent condition! Learn More about condition grades
