Note that Hobart Bosworth was a movie director, writer, producer and actor (often performing all functions in a single movie). He was born Hobart Van Zandt Bosworth in 1867, in Marietta, Ohio. He was a direct descendant of Miles Standish and John and Priscilla Alden on his father's side and of New York's Van Zandt family, the first Dutch settlers to land in the New World, on his mother's side. Bosworth was always proud of his heritage, and he apparently worked that into many of his movies, including this one, where all the characters are named either "Alden" or "Van Zandt", so it seems to deal with the first Dutch settlers! Important Added Info: Note that the earliest lobby cards known are from 1915, and since this movie is from 1914, we think it is highly likely they are from a very early re-release (likely from 1916 or soon after). But of course, it is not impossible they are from 1914! However, to be safe, we are listing them as a 1910s re-release. Also note that, in the early days of movie making, when lobby cards were first made (around 1915), studios would issue sets of the cards in two sizes; the regular 11" x 14" size, and a smaller 8" x 10" size. The cards were identical in every way except for the different size. This practice continued through the early 1920s, at which point the studios abandoned the smaller lobby cards, likely because theaters either ordered 11" x 14" lobby cards or 8" x 10" stills, and did not order enough of the 8" x 10" lobby cards to justify them continuing to make them. Condition: very good. Three of the cards have yellow stains in the top right corner. Otherwise, all the cards are in nice condition, especially considering they are around 100 years old!
