A Group of 2 Autographed Contract (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm] and 8 1/2" x 13" [22 x 33 cm]) (Learn More) Harry James was an American musician who is best known as a trumpet playing band leader from the 1930s to the 1980s. He was married to Betty Grable from 1943 to 1965. Some of his movies include: Private Buckaroo, Two Girls and a Sailor, and Carnegie Hall. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that both of these contracts have been personally autographed (signed) by Harry James! One is a 1961 contract where Mr. James played at the Flamingo hotel for 4 weeks and was paid $650 a week. The other is a rider to a contract from 1968 where Mr. James played at the Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for 4 weeks at a salary of $10,000 per week. The fact that he received $650 a week in 1961 and $10,000 a week in 1968 likely speaks more to the rise of Las Vegas over those 7 years rather than to a rise in Mr. James' popularity! Although, an additional factor could be that when he played at Caesar's Palace, he was appearing as part of the Frank Sinatra Show, so likely Frank helped get Harry the much larger salary! Our consignor obtained these autographs from a reputable autograph dealer and he (and we) believe the autographs to be authentic. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
