An Unfolded German Special Poster (measures 27" x 40 3/4" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) 12: Bayerisches Turnfest 1905 (literally translates to "12th Bavarian Gymnastics Festival 1905"), the 1905 German poster promoting a sporting event to take place during July in Kempten, Germany. Note that this poster features Ernst Platz (Ernst Heinrich Platz) art of two men hurling large stones (this was called "Steinstossen" in Germany, and it originated in 1860 as a track and field sport in Germany, and much later the stones were replaced with 15kg iron blocks, but the event retained its original name). Ernst Platz, the artist, was a Munich-born illustrator, very famous for his outdoor and mountain paintings. Also note that the theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). Condition: very good. The two pieces of the poster were glued together before putting them on display (this is typical of many posters in multiple pieces). The poster was never folded. It has pinholes, creases, and stains around the edges in the blank borders, and scuff marks in the bottom right of the dated areas at bottom.
