A Camera Original Vintage Photographic Transparency (measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More)

Kim Novak is a beautiful blonde actress from the 1950s to the 1990s. Her most memorable role was starring in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. Some of her other movies include: Bell Book and Candle, Picnic, The Man with the Golden Arm, and Kiss Me, Stupid. As of 2024, she is still alive at the age of 91.
Important Added Info: Wonderful portrait of Kim Novak during her prime! It's easy to see how she became a big star. This transparency was the one in the camera at the time taken by the photographer and could be printed or scanned huge due to the superb quality. An excellent piece for collectors who prefer one-of-a-kind collectibles. This transparency is being sold for personal use only! No rights given or implied!

Note that this the transparency film that was in the camera when the photographer shot the photo (see below for more on this). What is a transparency? They are produced by the studio and are very high quality and were created in quantity and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). A clear border around a 4x5 transparency denotes duplication from a negative source, a black border denotes duplication from a positive source. This transparency is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in the plastic sleeve.

The coloring of the transparency has changed over the years, and our consignor prepared a "color corrected" version (through PhotoShop), and we have an image of the transparency as it appears alongside the color corrected version, but of course, the auction is for a single transparency.

Condition: fair. This transparency exhibits a distinct pinkish color shift and when scanned reveals the original retouching used around her neck, hair, paint suit and eyebrows (more often than not with vintage color, the retouching shifts to green on originals) We have included a quickly retouched and color corrected scan to show how good this can look but be aware this one in particular would take talent and time to do properly.
