An Original Vintage Unfolded Special Travel Agency Poster (measures 25" x 40") (Learn More) Trans World Airlines (TWA) was a major American airline that existed from 1930 until 2001. With American, United, and Eastern, it was one of the "Big Four" domestic airlines in the United States. Howard Hughes acquired control of TWA in 1939, and after World War II (WWII) led the expansion of the airline to serve Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, making TWA a second unofficial flag carrier of the United States after Pan Am. In 2001, TWA filed for bankruptcy and was acquired by American Airlines. Artist: David Condition: very good. There is a 1" tear near the center of the top border and some creases around the edges of the poster. There are a few light creases throughout the image. This week we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like creasing, tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image.
