An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded English Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 39 3/4" x 77 1/2" [101 x 197 cm]) (Learn More) The Conquest of Everest, the 1953 George Lowe English Nepal/Tibet Himalayas mountain climbing hiking sports documentary ("The Supreme Adventure of Our Time!"; "The 1953 Expedition with Hunt, Hillary and Tensing"; about the first successful ascent of Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay) narrated by Meredith Edwards. Note that the expedition was led by English Army Officer John Hunt, but he did not make the final ascent to the top of the mountain, and for that reason, his name is pretty much lost to history, although he got top billing over Hillary and "Tensing" (which is how they billed Tensing Norgay, the Nepalese Sherpa who led them to the top of the mountain) on the English posters, which were made right after the event occurred. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: EMC Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie, and we have never seen this poster before (although we have seen the English one-sheet)! Also note that this English three-sheet measures 39 3/4" x 77 1/2" [101 x 197 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a white kraft paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: very good. The poster was kraftbacked onto a white paper (see above). There are faint brown stains, creases, and some small tears around the edges of the poster, in the white borders. There are some smudges in the blank borders, most of which may be minor printing defects. The kraft paper served its purpose well, which was to keep the poster from deteriorating while it was passed from theater to theater. It can be displayed and enjoyed just as it is, or certainly, it can be removed from the kraft paper and after a simple linenbacking, it will look incredible! Learn More about condition grades
