An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 13" x 16" [33 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Klondike Annie, the 1936 Raoul Walsh Alaska/California interracial romance romantic gambling crime murder melodrama ("Nome was never like this... Till Mae hit town!"; "From a play by Mae West and a story by Marion Morgan and George B. Dowell"; a really wild story where Mae West is an entertainer in San Francisco's Chinatown, and she is being blackmailed into having an affair by the owner of the club she works at, who is Asian, and she kills him and goes on the run, and meets a missionary who dies, and West takes her place and pretends to be a missionary and goes to Alaska, and she also is romanced by Victor McLaglen, and there is much more to the story!) starring Mae West (in the title role), Victor McLaglen, Philip Reed, Helen Jerome Eddy, Harry Beresford, Harold Huber, and Tetsu Komai. Note that while this was a movie made a couple years after the Production Code was in place, it broke many of its rules, and it is a mystery how it got made. It also has much anti-Asian racism, and that likely accounts for why the movie is little seen in recent years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has much light staining (see our image). Because the staining is significant, but can be hard to see from the front of the card, we also photographed the back of the card as well as the front, because sometimes the staining shows better on the back, and that will let bidders better know what restoration this card needs. We didn't do this on all the window cards we are currently auctioning, just ones where we thought seeing the back would be helpful, like this one. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 13" x 16" [33 x 41 cm]. Condition: poor. The card was found in the back of a frame where it had been used as a backing board for a picture (many framers in the 1920s and 1930s would use window cards for this purpose, and they would trim them to the size of the frame, not caring that they were cutting into the image!). In this case, the trimming, which was to 13" x 16" [33 x 41 cm], affects the right and top of the card, and you can see what is missing by looking at our image. Since most of the title, image, and credits remain, I would think many people could display this card as is, but please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
