An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The American Venus, the 1926 Frank Tuttle silent Atlantic City New Jersey romantic Miss America beauty pageant comedy ("See Fay Lanphier [Miss America] and 20 beautiful girls in a fast-moving-peppy story-") starring Esther Ralston, Ford Sterling, Lawrence Gray, Fay Lanphier (billed as "Miss America [Fay Lanphier] winner of the Atlantic City Beauty Contest"), Louise Brooks, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Note that this movie is set at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it was made just three years after the pageant began, and the just-crowned Miss America was one of the actresses in the movie! The movie is probably best remembered for the appearance of cult actress Louise Brooks in an early minor role. She was not billed on the posters, but her image DOES appear full-length on the three-sheet! Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist (only two trailers exist). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that while Louise Brooks plays one of the contestants in the Miss America contest, she is NOT one of the contestants pictured in this still (the "Miss Nevada" has a haircut like Miss Brooks', but it is definitely not her!). Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Note that this still likely has a stamp on the back in the form of a diamond that has the letters "TRR". One certainly might wonder who placed this stamp there and why. The answer is that 160 of the stills in this set of auctions come to us from a still collector who has collected for many decades, and long ago he began stamping the back of almost his stills with this stamp, and "TRR" is his initials! Each of those stills is stamped lightly, and the stamp does NOT affect the front of the still. He is a VERY advanced collector, and he has consigned many wonderful stills to us! Condition: good. There are pinholes in the corners, tape on the back of two corners, and tape on the back of a 2" tear in the center of the bottom border. Learn More about condition grades
