An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 Fred McLeod Wilcox science fiction (sci-fi) outer space robot monster thriller ("Amazing!"; "In Cinemascope and Color"; "Based on the story by Irving Block & Allen Adler"; very loosely adapted from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest"; about space men who journey to a distant planet, and they find that all the members of the original expedition have died, except for one man and his daughter, and they have discovered the secrets of a long lost civilization called "The Krell", which dwarfs anything humans have ever discovered, but there is a very dark side to those secrets that is soon revealed) starring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, Warren Stevens, Jack Kelly, Richard Anderson, Earl Holliman (as the cook, who was put in the movie for comic relief), Robby the Robot (billed as "Introducing Robby the Robot"), James Drury, and Frankie Darro (who was inside the robot suit until he was fired early in the production for showing up inebriated and almost damaging the expensive prop). Note that after Robby the Robot appeared in this movie, he had another movie role in "The Invisible Boy", and then he appeared in a slightly modified version as the robot in TV's "Lost in Space". On November 21, 2017, the original "Robby the Robot" was auctioned, and it sold for $5.375 million! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has an unusual origin! In 1956 a young boy in his early teens was visiting a poster exchange, and asked for the poster for the recently released "Forbidden Planet". He was given the one-sheet, and he put it up on the wall of his room, where it hung for many years (thus accounting for its many minor defects). No doubt many kids once had now valuable movie posters hanging on their walls, but how many of them carefully saved them through the years of their growing up? Condition: very good. tiny stains throughout the credits at bottom as well as some slight discoloration throughout the poster from exposure to moisture; 1 1/2" and smaller slightly diagonal creases around the middle crossfold; creases along the foldlines and edges from the poster being folded off-center as well as some minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout; several 1 1/2" and smaller tears and some tack holes around the edges of the poster; approximately 2" of separation in the top crossfold; The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are relatively minor, and are the type that respond extremely well to restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster would look wonderful, and there would be little paint anywhere on the poster! Learn More about condition grades
