An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Two-Panel (known in Italy as a "4 Fogli") Movie Poster (2p; measures 55" x 78" [140 x 198 cm]) (Learn More)

Le Mura di Malapaga (released in the U.S. in 1950 as "Walls of Malapaga"), the 1949 Rene Clement French/Italian romantic fugitive melodrama (about a French fugitive who arrives in Genoa, Italy, and is taken in by an Italian woman who happens to have a beautiful daughter, which greatly complicates things!) starring Isa Miranda, Jean Gabin, Vera Talchi, Andrea Checchi, and Robert Dalban. Note that the screenplay for this movie was co-written by Cesare Zavattini, legendary Italian screenwriter who had recently written the screenplay for The Bicycle Thief, and who would later make several more movies with Vittorio De Sica! Also note that the movie's stars Jean Gabin and Isa Miranda had gone to Hollywood during World War II, but after the war, they returned to their home countries, and they were paired in this movie, which is completely forgotten today, except by major film buffs. Given the stars, the screenwriter, and the director, we can't imagine it is not well worth watching, but we have not seen it (although we would like to!).

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially Italian movie! Also note that this Italian two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: good.
