Abandon Ship! (also released as "Seven Waves Away"), the 1957 Richard Sale English/U.S. ocean seafaring sailor sinking ship disaster thriller ("14 of these survivors must be cast adrift! Which will the captain choose?"; "26 survivors in a lifeboat which can hold only 12... One man must decide who will live or who will die ...what will he do?"; "The ending is SO Startling we urge you not to reveal it!"; "Luxury liner sinks!"; also written by Richard Sale; about a captain of a sinking ship who survives in a lifeboat with some crew and passengers, and who makes life-and-death decisions that no man should ever have to make; based on a true story) starring Tyrone Power Jr. ("as the Captain - He'd even sacrifice the woman he loves!"), Mai Zetterling ("as Ship's Nurse - she fought to keep everyone aboard... and alive!"), Lloyd Nolan ("as Kelly - Willing to jump overboard... so that others might live!"), Stephen Boyd ("as the Purser - He carried out the orders... at gunpoint!"), Moira Lister ("as the Shameless Wife - Her courage put every man to shame!"), James Hayter ("as 'Cookie' - After 30 years at sea, he'd survive... anywhere, anytime!"), Marie Lohr, Eddie Byrne, Clive Morton, and Ferdy Mayne. Note that this movie was produced by Charles H. Schneer, and the cinematography was by Wilkie Cooper. Ray Harryhausen worked on the set design for this movie with Wilkie Cooper, although he was uncredited. The following year, Harryhausen reunited with both Cooper and Schneer on perhaps his greatest film, "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad".
