An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

John Boles was a popular actor from the 1920s to the 1950s. Information about his life is somewhat sketchy, and it may not all be true! It is said that he was a spy in World War I! After the war, he appeared in some silent movies and also worked on the stage, where he showed off his excellent singing voice. When sound movies came in, he became a star in some early musicals, and he had a major role in 1931's Frankenstein. He remained a star in the 1930s, and also appeared on the stage. His career went downhill toward the end of the 1930s, and Hollywood dropped him in 1938, and he returned in 1941 to work for lowly Monogram. A few years later, he left show business altogether and went into the oil business in Texas! Some of his other movies include: Seed, Stella Dallas, Back Street, Craig's Wife, The King of Jazz, Only Yesterday, Curly Top, and the Littlest Rebel. He passed away in 1969 at the age of 73.

Condition: good. There are tiny dots of discoloration scattered throughout the still, more so in the left half. There is a 1/4" tear in the lower right border.
