An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Private Jones, the 1933 Russell Mack World War I (WWI) military romantic comedy ("Story by Richard Schayer"; an unusual war movie, to say the least, because it concerns an American draftee who doesn't want to fight against the Germans, because he has nothing against them, and instead he gets assigned to kitchen work and romancing the commander's wife!; certainly, a movie like this could never have been made just a couple of years later!) starring Lee Tracy (in the title role as Private Jones), Donald Cook, Gloria Stuart, Shirley Grey, Emma Dunn, Frank McHugh, Walter Catlett, and Russell Gleason NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had a few nail holes, stains, smudges, small tears, and some paper loss around the edges, but a much lesser amount within the image area, with a few faint water stains scattered in the card. Overall, the card was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was nicely backed, and the restorer painted over the blank border areas (to "even them out"). At some point after the card was backed, it was roughly handled, and the bottom right corner was bent, causing a semi-circular tear in that area. Learn More about condition grades
