An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 9 1/4" x 13 1/2" [23 x 34 cm]; 41 pages) (Learn More) Devil and the Deep, the 1932 Marion Gering Navy Naval military submarine romantic love triangle revenge melodrama (about the bored wife of a submarine commander who is accused by her husband of having a fling with two different handsome young officers) starring Tallulah Bankhead, Gary Cooper, Charles Laughton, Cary Grant (in his fifth movie role!), and Paul Porcasi. Note that Tallulah Bankhead was a famous stage actress who only appeared in a small number of movies (including Alfred Hitchcock's "Lifeboat"). She is the most memorable part of this movie, although Cary Grant made quite an impression in his small role as the first officer that she is suspected of having an affair with prior to her much more notable actual affair with Gary Cooper. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this Paramount pressbook (and two others) was removed from a bound volume. While all three of the pressbooks are uncut, they seem to all be missing pages, between 2 and 4 pages from each, but it might be more. Those pages might have been removed before they were added to the bound volume. Obviously, one would prefer to find a complete example of this pressbook, but Paramount pressbooks from this time are beyond rare, and one might wait for many years to find that better condition example! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Condition: fair to good, WITH CUTS. As noted above, the pressbook was removed from a bound volume and we believe it is surely missing at least two pages, and possibly more.
