An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Greene Murder Case, the 1929 Frank Tuttle crime thriller ("Who was guilty of one of the most baffling crimes ever committed?"; "Weird happening in a house of mystery"; based on the novel by S.S. Van Dine) starring William Powell (as Philo Vance), Florence Eldridge, Ullrich Haupt, Jean Arthur, and Eugene Pallette. Note that William Powell first played Philo Vance in 1929's "The Canary Murder Case" and after the character proved very popular, he followed it the next year with "The Greene Murder Case", after which Basil Rathbone took over the role that same year in "The Bishop Murder Case". After Powell played Vance again in "The Benson Murder Case" (which was also made in a Spanish language version with an entirely different case), he then played him one more time in "The Kennel Murder Case" in 1933, but the character also appeared in ten more movies between 1934 and 1947, with other actors in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned five scene cards from this movie, but we have NEVER auctioned this title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has a horizontal crease in the middle of the left dark background area, with smudges and scuffs scattered in all the solid black background areas. It had five small tears in the right border and two in the left border, and someone put small pieces of tape on the back of those areas. It also had slight darkening in the outer edges of two borders. Other than the tape on the back, no one did any restoration to this incredibly rare card. Learn More about condition grades
