What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on the folds and in the borders. It had a faint water stain near the bottom of the right blank border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. The poster is slightly "lifting" from the linen in the area in the right blank border where the water stain is. Any restorer or talented amateur could properly re-glue this area without re-backing the poster, or it could be displayed and enjoyed just as it is. Other than the above small defect, the poster is in surprisingly nice condition, especially considering its age and size.
