Note that this movie is always referred to as a "1937" movie, but it actually only had a limited opening in December 1937 (no doubt to qualify for the Oscars), and then it had its wide opening in February 1938. But because it is always referred to as being from 1937, we refer to it that way as well (and of course, it is technically correct). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of the 1951 re-release style B half-sheet, but we have never before auctioned this 1951 re-release style A half-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 7" tear in the right border that ran through snow white's neck and shoulders, and ended in the background above. It had a long diagonal crease that started from the top of Snow White's shoulder and went down through the title, and ended in the lower left border. It had pinholes, smudges, tears, and some paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
