A 1954 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious, the classic 1946 Alfred Hitchcock World War II (WWII) Nazis-in-South-America romantic love triangle crime film noir ("Fateful fascination! Bold intrigue!"; "Notorious woman of affairs... Adventurous man of the world!"; "Unceasing excitement... Relentless suspense!"; "Adventurous Man! Notorious Woman! - the boldest deception two lovers ever dared!"; "Deep their love! Great the risk!"; "Written by Ben Hecht"; one of Hitchcock's absolute best movies; the plot is wildly implausible, but the quality of the acting of the entire cast and the great direction are so good that you don't care!) starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Louis Calhern, Leopoldine Konstantin (billed as "Madame Leopoldine Konstantin", in a wonderful sinister performance as Claude Rains' mother!), E.A. Krumschmidt, Lenore Ulric, and Reinhold Schunzel NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there is a 1954 re-release of this movie where the one-sheet has this image. But like the other Selznick re-releases, it is not dated on the poster, and we know it is from 1954 because it is pictured in the pressbook. But because the pressbook is not in color, we normally would not know if the poster for that re-release was in color or in black & white, or in two or three colors! But since the litho number on this full-color poster indicates it is from 1954, then THIS poster is almost certainly from that re-release. There are also other posters with this image that have less color, and while we don't know that they could be from 1954 as well, it is also quite possible they are from later 1950s undated re-releases. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a small stain and tear in the vertical fold just above the top crossfold, in Bergman's hair. It had pinholes in the corners and minor fold wear. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
