Date Sold 2/20/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Jumbo Movie Window Card (WC; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Belle of the Nineties (some movie paper was prepared with the working title "It Ain't No Sin"), the 1934 Leo McCarey riverboat entertainer romantic comedy ( "Mae West.... in the picture the whole country is talking about"; about a sexy cabaret entertainer who has a tough boxer boyfriend, but who attracts the attention of every man who sees her) starring Mae West, Roger Pryor, Johnny Mack Brown, Katherine DeMille, John Miljan, Libby Taylor, and Duke Ellington's Orchestra. Note that the movie's working title was "It Ain't No Sin", but the censors refused to allow it, and it was changed, even though some posters exist with that title. They tried to change the title to "St. Louis Woman", but the residents of that city protested, and their next title was "Belle of New Orleans", but they received similar protests, and they settled on the non-controversial "Belle of the Nineties"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned four examples of this jumbo window card, but three of those four examples were heavily trimmed, so we have only auctioned one other complete example of this jumbo window card. Also note that this jumbo window card is not "roll-able", because the paper is thick enough and it is fragile enough that rolling it would damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30". Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Condition: good to very good. The poster has some faint tiny brown dot stains scattered throughout. The poster had surface paper loss in the top half of the first "N" of "NINETIES" and in the background above it, and some surface paper loss in the lower left of the top blank area. Someone performed slight restoration to the "N" without backing the card, and they did no other restoration. Because the tiny brown stains are faint, the poster can still be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, the poster could have restoration performed. Learn More about condition grades
