Date Sold 12/27/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1940 (from the first release of this movie in the U.K.) Vintage Theatrical Folded English Three-Sheet (called a six-sheet in England) Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40" x 85" [102 x 216 cm]) (Learn More) Day-Time Wife, the 1939 Gregory Ratoff romantic love triangle melodrama ("Like a woman, Linda's wondering if like a man, Tyrone's wandering ... and like most women, she's right!"; "What have secretaries got that wives haven't?"; "Linda looks lovely in Tyrone's arms... But how about the other girl...?"; "But there's something about a secretary!!"; about a wife that takes a secretary job because her husband has been ignoring her while attending to his own secretary) starring Tyrone Power Jr. ("...a swell guy!"), Linda Darnell ("...his grand wife!"), Warren William, Binnie Barnes, Wendy Barrie, and Joan Davis. Note that when Linda Darnell had the lead opposite Tyrone Power Jr. in this movie, she was only 16 (and was only 15 when it was being filmed), likely making her the youngest leading lady ever in Hollywood (something not to be proud of!). Click on her name to read the story of how she became a star so young. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this English three-sheet! Also note that this English three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Often these posters were printed on the back of older posters, but that was not done in this case! Note that this is one of seven English six-sheets and five English three-sheets that we are currently auctioning in 12 separate auctions. The posters were part of an amazing find of such posters that were auctioned in England several years ago. Our consignor purchased these twelve from that auction, and has consigned them to us. It will likely be many years before we again auction ANY of these twelve incredibly scarce posters! Condition: fair. Be sure to first read what is written above about this poster! The poster is extremely fragile and has many tears and areas of paper loss on parts of the folds and borders. Rather than attempt to describe individual defects, we would much rather you look at our super-sized image of the poster (especially since, on those from this collection that have printing on the back, you can also see the backs of some or all of the poster). Looking at those super-sized images should let you judge the exact condition of the poster. But clearly, all of the twelve posters from this remarkable collection are in urgent need of professional restoration, but after that is done by a talented restorer, they will look wonderful, and likely will not require much paint restoration!
