A Set of 4 Original Vintage Theatrical Door Hangers (measure 9 1/4" x 20") (Learn More)

Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious, the classic 1946 Alfred Hitchcock World War II (WWII) Nazis-in-South-America romantic love triangle crime film noir ("Fateful fascination! Bold intrigue!"; "Notorious woman of affairs... Adventurous man of the world!"; "Unceasing excitement... Relentless suspense!"; "Adventurous Man! Notorious Woman! - the boldest deception two lovers ever dared!"; "Deep their love! Great the risk!"; "Written by Ben Hecht"; one of Hitchcock's absolute best movies; the plot is wildly implausible, but the quality of the acting of the entire cast and the great direction are so good that you don't care!) starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Louis Calhern, Leopoldine Konstantin (billed as "Madame Leopoldine Konstantin", in a wonderful sinister performance as Claude Rains' mother!), E.A. Krumschmidt, Lenore Ulric, and Reinhold Schunzel

Important Added Info: Note that a major sequence in this wonderful movie revolved around a special key that is being passed from Bergman to Grant and back again. As part of the special promotion for this movie, RKO created a set of four special door hangers, each of which is in the shape of a key! I would think it quite likely that there may be no others of these in existence, and even more likely that there is not another complete set of 4! Note that each of the keys have the identical image on front and back, standard for door hangers, which were intended to be tied by the small hole at top and hung in a doorway. Having the two-sided image meant that people passing from either direction would see the image.

Condition: good to very good. each of the four door hangers have creases in the narrow "tail" area (not surprising since each measures as small as 3" in those areas). The key of just Cary Grant has two creases in the "tail" area. One of the sides with Grant's image is in quite nice condition; the reverse side has some surface paper loss in the blue area surrounding his image. The key with Bergman alone is in similar condition; there are two creases in the "tail" area; one of the sides with her image is in nice condition except for two tiny dots of surface paper loss by her left eye; on the other side, there are some areas of paper loss in the purple area surrounding her image and a few tiny dot stains in her face. The key with the image of Grant & Bergman has two creases in the "tail" area (they are lighter than the ones on the other keys); one side has next-to-no defects in the top image area; the other side has paper loss in the yellow border at the bottom of the image. The fourth key, the one showing the three top stars has three creases in the "tail" area. There is a crease that runs through the green area, cutting into the edge of the top image area; one side has very few defects in the image (except for the crease described above); the other side has surface paper loss in several areas of the green border surrounding the image and several light scuffs throughout the image, including one in Bergman's face. Overall, I would say that while the keys have clear defects, three of them have one side that is very "displayable" as is, and of course, a restorer could touch up any or all of them and make them look great!
