An Autographed 8" x 10" (8x10) REPRODUCTION Still (Learn More) Bette Davis was a legendary actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was Warner Bros. leading female star throughout the late 1930s, and she continued as a major star throughout the 1940s, and she had one of her greatest triumphs, All About Eve (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), in 1950. She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movies include: Dangerous (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Jezebel (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Now, Voyager (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Of Human Bondage, Star (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. Skeffington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Little Foxes (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Letter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Dark Victory (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and too many others to list! AND Henry Fonda was a highly successful actor from the 1930s through the 1970s. He is also well known for being the father of Jane Fonda and Peter Fonda, and the grandfather of Bridgette Fonda! He started on the stage in 1926 (both on stage and behind the scenes), and he spent many years in community productions before getting his big break in 1935. He had an unusual relationship with Margaret Sullavan (briefly his wife), and James Stewart, and the three were lifelong friends. Some of his movies include: 12 Angry Men, How the West Was Won, The Grapes Of Wrath (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Ox-Bow Incident, My Darling Clementine, The Lady Eve, Mister Roberts, Fail-Safe, Fort Apache, The Longest Day, Advise and Consent, You Only Live Once, On Golden Pond (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Best Man, Drums Along the Mohawk, Jezebel, Tales of Manhattan, and the Wrong Man (to name a few)! Important Added Info: Note that this REPRO still has been personally autographed (signed) by Bette Davis & Henry Fonda! Also note that many stars kept multiple 8" x 10" copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of the star in their heyday, which, when signed by the star, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall! About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 40 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer in the 1970s and 1980s. During that time, he was approached by an elderly man named Sterling H. Bond, who had collected autographs for many years (starting in the early 1930s), and who sold the dealer his entire collection. Bond had tracked down many important Hollywood celebrities and obtained autographed items (often personalized to him), and he also had autographs from celebrities who were not in the film business (including famous politicians!). The dealer was so impressed with this collection that rather than sell it item by item, he began collecting autographs himself, sending celebrities items by Registered Mail which they then autographed and returned to him! He also purchased a few autographed items from top autograph dealers of the 1970s and 1980s. Now, decades later, the dealer has consigned these autographed items to us. So all of these 41 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained by long time collector Sterling H. Bond, or were obtained by this memorabilia dealer, and we feel certain that the autograph on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 41 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. UPDATED 11/22/2010: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that this repro still of Henry Fonda & Bette Davis is a publicity shot from the film "That Certain Woman"!
