Date Sold 12/21/2004Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 8 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Stills (Learn More) Two Against the World, the 1936 William C. McGann murderer-outed-on-the-radio crime thriller (about a radio executive whose station is losing viewers, and his boss is desperate to change that, so he starts a series of programs about a 20 year-old murder, where a woman was acquitted of the crime, but the radio series makes it look like she was guilty, and she is now a married mother, and the series threatens to ruin her life, and the radio executive quits his job and sets out to find out the truth of the matter) starring Humphrey Bogart, Beverly Roberts, Linda Perry, Carlyle Moore Jr., Henry O'Neill, Helen MacKellar, and Hobart Cavanaugh. Note that this was a remake of 1931's "Five Star Final", but with the newspaper setting changed to radio! Also note that Humphrey Bogart had made a small number of movies between 1931 and 1934, before giving up on Hollywood, and returning to the New York stage. He returned to Hollywood in 1935, after having great success in "The Petrified Forest" on Broadway. He made this movie right before he appeared in the Hollywood version of "The Petrified Forest", and that led to enough success that he stayed in Hollywood, but he did not achieve major stardom until 1942, when he made "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that one of these stills is a really INCREDIBLE portrait of Humphrey Bogart! It is on heavyweight stock, typical of that used for quality 11x14s, it is stamped "APR 14 1936", and has a photo credit for "Longworth, Warner Bros.". Due to the stamp, it is possible this still was not created until 1936, but it is also quite possible it was created in 1932, but pulled out in 1936, possibly when Bogart got the lead in "The Petrified Forest". In any event, it is one of the absolute coolest Humphrey Bogart items I have ever seen! Note that this still is in really nice condition, with tiny border nicks, even though some of the other seven stills in this lot are in nearly as good condition. Condition: very good. see below for why we don't describe the defects of this item in words Learn More about condition grades
