An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 63 1/2" [120 x 161 cm]) (Learn More) Champagne, the 1928 Alfred Hitchcock English silent idle rich romantic comedy (about a spoiled rich girl whose father has made a fortune in the champagne business, and who decides to humble her by pretending the business has failed) starring Betty Balfour, Jean Bradin, Gordon Harker, Marcel Vibert, Jack Tevor, Ferdinand von Alten, and Alexander D'Arcy. Note that this movie was made so early in Alfred Hitchcock's career that he was not credited on the French posters. Also note that Hitchcock's name is completely connected to thrillers and suspense, and most people do not realize that he EVER made any other types of movies. But early in his career, he experimented in several different genres and types of movies, including this romantic comedy, and it would not be for several more years before he would settle on making suspenseful thrillers, and he stuck to those movies for the remainder of his decades-long career. We have once auctioned a first release Australian daybill and a first release French two-panel, but other than that, no movie paper of any kind! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some foldlines. It had small paper loss in the right of the top blank border, at the top of the right vertical foldline, with matching small paper loss in the same foldline in the bottom blank border.
