HYDE deluxe 10.25x13.25 still 1931 sexiest naked Miriam Hopkins by Gordon! Date Sold 3/14/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the 1931 Rouben Mamoulian double-personality fantasy monster horror thriller ("Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson") starring Fredric March (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in both title roles; he tied with Wallace Beery who won for The Champ), Miriam Hopkins, Rose Hobart, Holmes Herbert, Edgar Norton, and Halliwell Hobbes. Note that this movie premiered in New York City on New Year's Eve 1931, and then went into general release in the U.S. in 1932. So except for that one night, it is a 1932 movie, but because it is always identified as being from 1931, we also identify it that way! That also helps explain why there is movie paper dated 1933. It was a giant hit, and the movie was surely still in its first release into 1933, and more paper was printed as it was needed. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this wonderful candid still shows a Paramount studio portrait of Miriam Hopkins as she will be "seen" in this movie, and obviously, they wanted viewers to think she would appear naked in the movie! Note that this still measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that we are currently auctioning over 100 ultra rare 11x14 stills (some measure slightly smaller) that are mostly from the 1930s, all in separate auctions! The highlight of these is the 58 of them that were consigned to us by a collector who acquired them many years ago, and they feature wonderful images of many of the greatest 1930s Hollywood stars, including James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Edward G. Robinson, and many others! These are many times more rare than 8x10 stills, and are very rarely offered for sale or at auction, and many of these may be "one of a kind"! This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one or many of these extreme rarities! Condition: good to very good. There are faint score marks around Hopkins' figure in the background areas from when this still was used in magazines, but it is mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light, and it does not affect her image at all.
