An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures 37 1/2" x 56 1/4" [95 x 143 cm]) (Learn More)

Shiraz, the 1928 Franz Osten Indian/English/German silent Taj Mahal romantic melodrama (a fictionalized story of the building of the Taj Mahal between 1631 and 1643) starring Himansu Rai (in the title role as Shiraz), Charu Roy, Seeta Devi, Enakashi Rama Rao, and Maya Devi. Note that the Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife, a Persian princess who died giving birth to their 14th child! In this movie, there is a plot about an orphaned brother and sister, and she was a princess, but she is sold into slavery, but is bought by the emperor, and he marries her, and after she passes away, the emperor builds the Taj Mahal as a tribute to his love for her, from a design that was drawn years before by her brother, who is now old and blind!
Artist: Wechmar
Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially German movie! Also note that the poster has an artist's signature on it, and the last name appears to almost certainly be "Wechmar", but we don't know what is in front of it, or if we have the spelling correct. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Finally, note that the poster was printed in two sections designed to overlap.
