It was his idea to create the tunable tom-tom and he was one of the first drummers to use a hi-hat as we know it today. He also was the first drummer to record using a bass drum. Krupa passed away in 1973 at the age of 64. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Gene Krupa! Mr. Krupa had a fan club in 1946, and its members organized a gathering in Chicago on October 27, 1946, that he attended, and he kindly took photos with his fans and had them placed in folders from the "College Inn" that they gathered at, and he signed the interior of the folder (see our images). Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
