A Vintage German Hardcover Book (measures 8" x 11 1/2" [20 x 29 cm]; 107 pages) (Learn More)

Helsinki: So Kampften Sie (literally translates to "Helsinki: So They Fight"), the 1952 German book featuring images and information about the 1952 Summer Olympics (Games of the XV Olympiad) which were held in Helsinki, Finland. Note that this is a truly amazing book! What makes it so much different (and better) than other similar German hardcover books about the Olympics? This book comes with its own portable stereopticon viewer, and the book contains 100 stereoscopic slides that can be viewed through the viewer (and all the slides and the viewer fit into slots in the extra thick binding in the front and back of the book). We have never seen a portable stereopticon viewer before. Because it requires the viewer to be a distance from the slides, the viewers are normally a number of inches wide, and the slides fit in one side of it, and you look through the other side. But this portable one has a collapsible metal mechanism that allows it to be "folded", and when it is unfolded, it resembles a conventional viewer (see our images). Note that the book itself has no images at all, because you get the 100 stereoscopic slides that you view with the viewer!
Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this remarkable book before! Also note: We have 19 images of the books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 19 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 9. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and all of the 100 stereoscopic slides, plus several views of the portable stereopticon viewer.

Condition: very good. The paper dust jacket on the book has darkened and has many smudges, with a few tiny tears in the edges. The book itself is in excellent condition, and all its parts are there. See our many images to get a good sense of the condition of this book.
