An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 15" [30 x 38 cm]; 24 pages) (Learn More) The Great McGinty, the classic 1940 Preston Sturges political crooked politics screwball comedy starring Brian Donlevy (in the title role as Dan McGinty), Muriel Angelus, Akim Tamiroff, Allyn Joslyn, and William Demarest. Note that this movie was originally intended to be released in the U.S. with the title "Down Went McGinty", but at the last minute was changed to "The Great McGinty" (it was SO "last minute" that U.S. one-sheet posters were actually printed with "Down Went McGinty" on them, and giant snipes were glued over that area)! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this pressbook, and that was 7 years ago (that example was only in "fair to good" condition)! Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle.
